  1. Go to the component tab Create print template.

  2. Select the Print template and click it into position in the 2D view.

  1. To select the print template in the drawing area, click the manipulation area of the print template between the dotted yellow line and the solid black line.

  2. Adjust the size of the frame using the two yellow square snap points.

  3. Create a title block within the template frame (see Figure 1), using the:

  1. To set the properties of the selected template frame, right-click between the dotted yellow line and the solid black line (i.e. the manipulation area of the frame). Select Print template properties in the popup menu that appears. The Template frame properties dialog opens where a number of properties can be set for the selected frame.

  2. Click the Create template button in the same dialog. A Save As dialog appears where the visual print template that you have created now is named and saved as a .tbl file. Click Save.

  3. The next time when you would like to print using the print template that you have created, load it into your print frame. Double-click the edge of the print frame to open the Print template properties dialog and insert the print template.

Note:

  • Changing the contents of a print template manually after having loaded it into a print frame will not influence the original .tbl file. If the same .tbl file is loaded again all manual changes in the print template in the print frame will be lost.

  • It is recommended to always save the actual drawing in which the print template was created. This way, you can open up the drawing, edit the template and generate a new .tbl file. When a .tbl file is created, a great deal of information is lost, and therefore it is not possible to continue to edit .tbl files.

  • It is recommended that you use printer settings in the template frame that are the same, or at least similar to the printer settings that will be used by the user of the print template. A print template can be stretched to certain degree to fit a different size printable area, but it could influence the visual appearance in a negative way.

  • If you put several text boxes on top of each other in the print template, it might not be possible to click on some of the text components and change its contents in the final print template.

  • If necessary, the text components will adjust their font size to make the text fit within their area. This will generally yield a good result, but it is safer not to rely on this capability and instead manually set a font size that will make the text fit within the given area.
